LastPass offers a service that will help you better manage your passwords. The goals of this program are to:

• Save you time by automating all of your logins.
• Eliminate the frustration of lost and forgotten passwords (and to reduce calls to our helpdesk).
• Educate you on easy ways to improve your 'password hygiene' to better protect your digital identity and our company data.

 

Important Rules:

• Requires a 15 character password with complexity but will not require you to change it every 90 days.
• Do not save your personal passwords in your North Island account, i.e. Personal Email, Retirement, etc. If you leave the company all of your passwords will be deleted. There is a free consumer version that you can install on you home PC and link it to your account at work. This will ensure that when your North Island account is deleted your personal account and passwords will be retained at home.
• You will only be allowed to use the North Island version from a computer on our network.

 

Your email address will be your username. You will also get a prompt the first time you open your web browser asking if you’d like to user LastPass to save password. Please enable this.

Lastpass icon is a white * in the toolbar (right or left side depending on if using IE or Chrome)

Secure Notes allows you to indicate the type of password it is (i.e. Drivers Lic., Bank Acct. etc.), additional notes and even screen shots

All passwords are stored in the Cloud so deleting the Temp Cache will NOT delete your saved passwords

If they get locked out, (after 5 attemps), submit a ServiceTicket which should go to the Information Security group.

After 8 hrs of non-activity, will auto-log off (icon goes gray)

Can only be used on our domain when VPNd in  (not avail on phone)

If link gets hacked, user will get and emial from Lastpass - they should follow the instructions in the email.

Can only be used in the United States
