EIS - Formerly Sendero EIS Cognos PowerPlay

 

Sendero EIS is no longer being used.

User should be in the EIS group. Curt controls who has access to the reports and data.

Put this link on the Public\Public Desktop, name in it EIS and if they already have Sendero installed change the icon to the pie chart

Desktop Icon

Change icon by going to C:\Program Files\Cognos\cer4\bin

Go to PwrPlay. Double-click and select the round graph icon.

Sendero EIS 7.3 Install

Go to Helpdeskstor\helpdesk\SenderoSCCMPackage

Copy the SenderoSCCMPackage to c:\temp

Right-Click on Install.cmd and Run as Administrator

After install complete, go to All Programs \ expand Cognos Series 7 Version 3  (if you do not see Cognos Series 7, run the Install.cmd  selecting A for All to override)

Configuring EIS

  1. Start\All Programs\Cognos Series 7….
  2. Right click on PowerPlay, Run as an Admin
  3. Select Close in the Startup Window.
  4. File\Preference\Directories tab
  5. In the three fields if not typed in:

Multidimensional Cubes: \\senderoEIS\EIS\Production\EIScubes

Reports: \\senderoEIS\EIS\Production\EISreports

Macros and custom menu files: \\senderoEIS\EIS\Production\EISmacros

Click OK Exit out

Go to Start \ All Programs \ Cognos Series \ Tool

Right-click on Configuration Manager and run as Admin

Close the Welcome window.

 This shows the configuration setup in Configuration Manager - if this is empty, click on File \ Open Current Configuration

  1. Expand Services
  2. Expand Access Manger - Run Time
  3. Expand Authentication Source and select Directory Server
  4. Under Directory Server - Properties (right column) set Computer to SenderoEis
  5. When asked Are you sure you want to change it? click on Yes
  6. Under Directory Server set Base Distinguished Name [DN} to o=nifcu.org

  

Click on the Green checkmark\Yes. If all is correct, you should see: Successfully validated all properties. Click OK

Click on the Green Dot (if the dot is grayed out, you need to click on Authentication Source)

Are you sure?  Click Yes

You should see: Successfully applied all properties. Click OK 

Click on SAVE icon – Save As, go to the root C:\Sendero

Name the file Cognos.ccs

Exit

 

Desktop Icon 

Go to Public\Public Desktop, create a shortcut to: http:\\senderoeis\cognos

Name the icon shortcut: EIS-Cognos PowerPlay

Change icon by going to C:\Program Files\Cognos\cer4\bin

Go to PwrPlay. Double-click and select the round graph icon.

 

File Association

Go to Start \ type in file assoc and select Make a file type always open in a specific program

Scroll down to .ppr and ensure the Current Default is set to Cognos PowerPlay. If it's not, click on Change Program and change it. If it's not listed, lick on Other Programs to find it.

If you are logged on, log off and have user log on and try. They should not need a password. If it asks for one, go into Active Directory and ensure they are a member of the EIS group. If they are, contact Curt so he can give them access to the server. 

 

You may encounter this registry message – click OK
