Issues:
- User gets various c:\Users\user name\AppData pop-up messages being read-only or not having permission
- Cannot remote into user. User gets a message: "There was a problem starting Remote Assistance. Remote Assistance is unavailable for the current user account. If you are using a Windows Guest account try logging in with another account. If you are using a Guest account, try restarting your machine."
Resolution:
- Remote Desktop to PC and log on with elevated rights
- Go to C:\Users and delete the Temp folder
- Go to regedit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
- Delete the Temp profile and find the users profile with name .bak
- Right-click, select Rename and delete the .bak
- Close all windows and restart the PC.
- Have the user log on and re-establish the users default printer
If the user still has issues logging in recreate the users profile
- Recreate user profile
- Copy anything the user may have saved on their desktop to their U drive
- Have user log off and you log on
- delete users account
- Regedit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
- Delete users profile
- Log off and have user log on
- Set the users new profile up (default printer, items from desktop, etc)
