Issue:
- I updated one of the Canon printers drivers (2FL-SEWing-CN710) this morning. Now it seems like all PCs connecting to any CANON color printer is being asked “Do you trust this printer” (see below).
- Do you trust this printer?
- Windows needs to download and install a software driver from the \\PrintServer computer to print to CL-CANONC3220-C2. Proceed only if you trust the \\PrintServer computer and the network, and then restart the print job.
- Install driver & Cancel Button

Suggestion 1
- Have you checked Local Security Policies -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options "Devices: Prevent users from installing printer drivers"?
- You can try disabling the option on the Printer Shares page “Render print jobs on client computer”
- I found these answers on a Microsoft forum page
-
Suggestion 2
- The GPO change highlighted in this Microsoft forum page fixed the issue.

- Tested the fix on Sid’s laptop and Andee in business services. Both standard domain users were receiving the prompt to install the driver when sending a print job to the Canon 5058. Made the gpo changes to “ 2nd Floor Printers “ gpo, did a gpupdate /force on both pc’s, and had the user print a job to the Canon. Results came back as the user could see files from the print server being copied down, but at least no elevated prompt appeared.
- I’ll make the changes to our 1st floor and 6th Floor Printer gpo’s, run a remote gpupdate for each floor, and note this in the IT change management lo
